SU Fall Workshop

So every year, the photo department at Syracuse puts together a workshop where all the photo students participate in an intense weekend where we find stories, shoot them, then put together (in my class's case) multimedia pieces. It involves lots of frustration, little to no sleep but ultimately very rewarding and great experience. The workshop invites professionals from around the country to come and act as coaches for small teams of participants. I know my coaches Will Yurman and Jesse Neider were excellent and really brought the best out in me. What's particularly funny is that Jesse will be ON my team at the Eddie Adams Workshop in a couple weeks so it'll be another sleepless photographic weekend together!

The weekend found me spending time at the Beak & Skiff Apple Farm in Lafayette, NY where I followed around one of the Jamaican migrant workers for a couple days. He was quiet and two days didn't really afford me the time to break down the barriers to really get to know him, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with the photos and even happier that I got to listen to a bunch of guys (he leads a crew of nine Jamaicans) say "mon" after every other sentence. Anyway, below are some of the photos I came away with. After a little fine-tuning I'll have the complete multimedia piece up.

This is Marshall Skiff, the owner of the apple farm.
